Peru, Republic. An Order of the Sun of Peru, Grand Cross Star, c. 1960 Archive and Army Long Command Merit(Orden el Sol del Per). Instituted October 8th, 1821. Type III. Constructed of gilded bronze with red and white enamels, consisting of a bronze gilt star base featuring eighteen starburst arms, each arm with five rays, the obverse with a central gilded medallion bearing the Peruvian Coat of Arms, surrounded by a ring of red enamels marked El Sol Del Per with the date 1821 in white enamels, surrounded by a gilded laurel wreath with a bow at the base,
