Asphodeline damascena France Recent DNA work shows thatAsphodeline damascena is a little known asphodel (not to be confused with infidels), hailing from Turkey, and adjacent Syria. The narrow, fleshy blue foliage resembles a clump of blue fescue, but with thick, waxy foliage. The two year old clumps are topped with 3' tall stalks of starry white flower that open in late afternoon, starting for us in early June. Damascus asphodel grows best in a gravelly rock garden setting in full sun. In the garden,
